Citrusdal – Petersfield
If you ever want to treat your faithful companion to a wonderful secluded getaway in the mountains where he can feel free of the restrictions that city life imposes, then visit us here at Petersfield in Citrusdal. Petersfield is less than 2 hour’s drive from Cape Town on the N7 and offers pets and their owners three secluded mountain cottages set 2 km apart in total privacy.
All cottages have their own plunge pools and fire places. The cottages, set on a working citrus and Rooibos tea farm of 2,500 hectares, allow ample opportunity for visitors to hike up the mountains, swim or row in the farm dam, or to try our relatively easy 4×4 track. Our mountains, overlooking the Cederberg, boast beautiful fynbos and the freedom to walk and explore this magnificent pristine private wilderness.
Dassieklip cottage is a beautiful wooden chalet set under a thicket of oak trees next to a mountain stream. It is air-conditioned, has a jet-master fireplace, CD player, M-net, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, lounge/dining room and an outside braai area overlooking it’s own private pool. The main bedroom has a queen size bed whilst there are two single beds in the second bedroom. The bathroom has a bath and shower. Undercover parking is also provided.
De Kom is set further into the mountain in a secluded basin and can be reached by normal car. Newly renovated, it offers total privacy and magnificent views onto the Cederberg mountains. Only 300 meters away is the farm dam with a rowing boat and swimming opportunities. De Kom has two bedrooms, the main with a queen size bed and the other two singles. There is a sleeper couch in the lounge for extra guests. The private plunge pool is lined with white river stones and cools you down in the summer. This cottage is gas operated and the fully equipped kitchen has a fridge and stove and oven. The bathroom has a magnificent Victorian bath and a shower which are heated by a gas geyser for an endless supply of hot water. The lounge has a lovely old fashioned fireplace which compliments the intimate and romantic ambience that De Kom exudes.
Die Veepos is our spacious new Sandveld style cottage with three bedrooms and is hidden in it’s own private valley. Furnished with old farm style furniture, reed ceilings, and screeded floors Die Veepos has an old world country charm to it. Besides the interior bathroom there is an additional private bush bathroom for an exotic experience! Die Veepos also has a private plunge pool, undercover braai, stoep dining facilities, a carport and a view down into the valley below. This exquisite and stylish gas operated cottage boasts a huge fire place in the open plan lounge area for intimate and romantic evenings.
PET POLICY: All dog breeds and cats welcome all year round. Sleep in rooms. Access to walks. By special arrangement only. Pets stay FREE. No doggie damages deposit required.
