Drakensberg (Winterton) – Tugela River Lodge
Tugela River Lodge is a self-catering bush camp, located on a private cattle and game farm on the banks of the Tugela River, near Winterton, KZN.
Situated in the shadow of the famous Anglo-Boer Battlefield of Spionkop, this rustic and petfriendly accommodation is the ideal place for a romantic getaway for 2, or a family weekend, or a large group get together.
We have a total of 24 beds in freestanding thatch cottages, that can be booked either as the Lodge (18 beds), or the Hideaway (6 sleeper). Ideally situated just 2 and half hours from Durban or 3 and half hours from JHB, the Lodge is perfect to explore the surrounding countryside. The nearby Battlefield of Spionkop, the Spionkop Game Reserve and the Central Berg will ensure that you have lots to do.
On site you have free fishing and usage of tubes and canoes on the Tugela River. There are numerous walks, hiking paths, 4×4 tracks, and MTB trails on the game farm, all exclusively for you. For animal lovers, there are 200+ bird species and access to a private game farm. A perfect spot to get outdoors for all and soak up the fresh farm air. Put away the gadgets and explore all the trails. But, if you don’t want to do this, we are Proudly Eskom Free! There is a generator for all the gadgets at night.
PET POLICY: All dogs, cats, caged birds and horses welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside. Guests must bring their own pet beds and bowls. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture. Pets must be free of ticks and fleas. Enclosed garden and easy access to walks. Consideration must be given to resident dogs, cats, birds, farm animals and wildlife. Pets stay FREE. Doggie Damages Deposit required: NONE, however guests are responsible for any damages caused by their pets.
