Hoopoe Haven Guest House offers secure, affordable three star Bed and Breakfast and AA highly recommended self-catering cottages and luxury tented camps near Fourways. We are a small and peaceful country guest house, situated in beautiful Chartwell, Fourways. It is positioned on 2 acres of landscaped gardens with a beautiful view of the Magaliesburg Mountains. We have 2 pet-friendly self-catering cottages with huge secure gardens, and a pet-friendly en-suite room in our lodge with a courtyard suitable for smaller dogs.
Dove Cottage
Dove Garden Cottage is a 1 bedroomed self catering cottage on the property next door to our lodge that is able to sleep up to 4 people. It consists of:
A large double air-conditioned bedroom with a queen bed
An en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower
A large fully equipped kitchen with everything you may need to cook
The open plan area consists of:
- 2 huge gum pole bunk beds
- A dining area
- A lounge with piped DSTV
- It is fully secure with trellidoor gates and panic alarm as well as electrified fence and electronic gates around the premises
- It is pet friendly
The cottage has its own 1000m garden with garden furniture for you to relax on while you braai your food and your kids play in the garden.
In addition you can view, from the lounge window, the 4:30pm feeding frenzy when we have literally hundreds of birds feeding on our bird trays and in winter, in the morning, you can view the louries and barbets, etc. fighting for the fruit that we put out.
You also have full access to the lodge grounds and the swimming pool.
Barbet Cottage
This is a lovely small budget pet-friendly cottage right next door to the lodge. It is absolutely ideal for a single person, or a couple with or without pets.
- A cosy open-plan bedroom with a double bed, lounge and dining room
- TV with SABC 1,2,3 and e-tv and selected DSTV channels, visible to face either the bedroom or lounge.
- Kitchenette with fridge, double sink, microwave, small portable 2 plate stove and small oven.
- Large bathroom with shower
- Large garden for pets with a Weber braai
- In addition you can view, from the lounge window, the 4:30pm feeding frenzy when we have literally hundreds of birds feeding on our bird trays and in winter, in the morning,

Even though it is not on the Hoopoe Haven grounds you have full access to the lodge grounds and use of the lovely clear swimming pool and other lodge facilities
Hoopoe En-suite Room
This is a large luxury air-conditioned double room with an en-suite bathroom with corner bath and shower. It has its own entrance into a private courtyard. The Hoopoe Room is dog-friendly as it has a separate secure garden outside with sole access from the room.

PET POLICY: All well-behaved dogs and caged birds welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside; bring own pet beds, bedding and bowls. Pets are not permitted on the furniture and must be free of ticks and fleas on arrival. Enclosed garden and easy access to walks dogs must be leashed if going for a walk around the property outside of their enclosure. Dogs are not allowed inside the Lodge building. CHARGE for Pets: R75.00 per day (not per pet) cleaning fee for dogs. Maximum 4 dogs allowed. Doggie Damages Deposit required: NONE.
