Managed by owners, Trevor and Kathy, Erin is a child and pet-friendly Farm Stay on the Eastern Edge of the Great Karoo,the vast central plateau of South Africa, with landscapes on a grand scale, sweeping skies and wide horizons.
Conveniently situated 10 km south of Middelburg in the Eastern Cape, midway between Johannesburg and Cape Town and off the N9, Erin offers the perfect en-route stopover for a tranquil farm break for those wanting to experience wonderful vistas, champagne air, magical African sunsets, as well as star-studded night skies.
Erin is a relaxed, unassuming and modest farm stopover which is down-to-earth but comfortable. With six accommodation options (some inter-leading and ideal for group stays), all the units have fans and heaters but no air-conditioning. There are no televisions or radios in the rooms, so guests can have a break from the rat-race and unwind while appreciating the fresh air, space and serenity.
Birdsong – Comfortable en-suite family accommodation with an open-plan main bedroom/lounge area and a fully equipped kitchen as well as outside braai. This unit can accommodate a family of 4 (or 5 if children are small). There is a separate entrance off a small private stoep/veranda with outdoor furniture, overlooking the Gumtree grove. Pet-friendly with small fenced garden – dogs must be kept on a leash when taken for walks on the farm.
Gumtree – A large and comfortable self-catering unit with spacious bedroom/lounge area and fully equipped kitchen as well as outside braai facility. This unit can accommodate 3 adults. Double doors open onto the garden with outdoor furniture and great views across the veld towards Renosterberg mountain. Pet-friendly with large fenced garden – dogs must be kept on a leash when taken for walks on the farm.
Farm Cottages – Two sunny open-plan stand-alone units (no separate bedroom) with shower and fully equipped kitchenette as well as an outside braai facility, which can accommodate up to 3 guests. A sliding door leads onto a private stoep/patio with outdoor furniture and which offers a beautiful view across the veld towards Renosterberg mountain.
PET POLICY: Small to medium dogs, cats & caged birds welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside – bring own pet beds, bedding & bowls. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture & pets must be free of ticks and fleas on arrival. Easy access to walks – dogs must be leashed at all times when taken for walks on the farm. Consideration must be given to resident dogs & cats. Pets stay FREE. Doggie Damages Deposit Required: NONE.
