Mossel Bay (Surrounds) – Blommekloof Country Cottages
Relaxing breakaways for you and your furry family in our off-the-grid, self-catering, pet-friendly farm cottages near Ruiterbos, in the Outeniqua Mountains between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn.
On the Farm:
Blommekloof Country Cottages are situated on 16-hectares of agricultural land – but we (Claude and Ali Coetzee) don’t really farm here. Well, unless you classify reating a peaceful haven as farming…
On the farm: ducks, geese, chickens, sheep, lambs, 2 rescue donkeys and a horse that adopted us!!! walking, birding, wildlife, three dams (stocked for catch-and-release fishing)
The whole farm is solar powered with gas stoves and gas geysers.

MTB, cycling, riding, motorbiking, cheese makers, tea gardens, farm stalls, game reserves, nature reserves, 4×4 routes – and (half an hour’s drive away) Mossel Bay with its beaches, championship golf courses, sailing, adrenalin activities (sandboarding, surfing, tandem skydiving), whale watching, dolphin watching, and cultural attractions. (Point of Human Origins Experience, Bartolomeu Dias Museum, art route, etc.)

Old Cottage:

In short:
- 3 Bedrooms – two with double beds, one with four single beds. There’s an additional double sleeper couch in the lounge, so the house sleeps a maximum of 10. The cottage is also equipped with a cot for tiny babies, and additional bunk beds if you’re bringing loads of kids.
- 3 Bathrooms – two have showers, and our new bathroom (added 2016) has a shower and a bath
- Lounge – a fireplace, a library, and cupboard full of games (perfect for a long, quiet evening, or for snuggling in on a rainy, wintery day)
- Kitchen – very well equipped for cooking; cutlery and crockery for eight or more people

- Covered patio with braai area and outdoor dining table
- We’re now off the grid – so no hairdryers, please…

Service:
- Fresh linen and towels are provided – and we�ll freshen them up if you�re staying longer than a week.
- We want you to enjoy your privacy, so we don�t provide cleaning services during your stay – but we can arrange them at a fee.
Supplies:
- Firewood and braai-wood are supplied free of charge
- Fresh farm milk and eggs are available on site.
- We suggest you bring the bulk of your groceries with you, but the Ruiterbos Farm Stall – 8 km from Blommekloof – carries a range of basic supplies. It’s a general dealer, craft market and restaurant with pizzeria.
Pets:
- Well behaved dogs, cats, parrots, goldfish – everyone’s welcome here at Blommekloof, but please contact us before you arrive to discuss your furry friend’s requirements. (And yes, we do have our own farm dogs – two friendly Ridgebacks 2 little Jack Russells and 2 Cats).
- Old Cottage is surrounded by a low fence (1.2 metres).

- From R 300.00 per person per night for up to 4 people; add R 200.00 per person per night for the 5th person and for additional people.

We built Sunflower Cottage for you. It’s madly comfortable and fully equipped. You’ll want to stay forever.
Sunflower Cottage was designed to capture the spirit of the Cape, and the energy of the sun. With a large, open-plan living area and a wide, covered patio, it’s a comfortable, practical house where you’ll relax completely.
In short:
- 2 bedrooms – one with a double bed (you’ll go nuts for the brass headboards), and one with two single beds. (We can also move in a double bed or bunk beds on request.)
- 1 bathroom with bath and shower.
- Open-plan living and lounge area with wood-burning fireplace.
- Fully equipped kitchen and dining area with crockery and cutlery for 4 or more people, and gas-powered stove.

Cancellations over the summer holidays
Please note: if you cancel your booking for December or January after the 1st of September, you will forfeit your entire deposit
PET POLICY: All dogs, cats, horses and caged birds welcome all year round. Pets sleep inside; bring own pet beds, bedding, bowls & food. Paddocks for horses. Pets are not allowed on the furniture and must be free of ticks & fleas. Easy access to walks dogs that don’t listen to their owners must be leashed at all times when outside. Consideration must be given to resident dogs (2 friendly Ridgebacks and 2 Jack Russells, as well as our 3 kitties (probably not so friendly), many birds nesting in and around the farm, cows, geese, many chickens and wildlife, including bushpig, bushbuck and loads of other small animals like porcupine, rooikat etc. Pets stay FREE. Doggie Damages Deposit required: R500.00 refundable.
