Tulbagh – Silwerfontein Guest Farm
Our cosy self-catering farm style cottages are situated in a Mandela sanctioned Natural Heritage Site Conservancy Area with spectacular views over the 7km long Volvlei Dam, only 1 hours drive from Cape Town. The cottages are private, neat and clean with bedding and all kitchen necessities included, but please bring your own towels.
The farm is organic and eco-friendly managed. Solar energy powers the lights and additional oil lamps/candles add to the ambience. It is recommended that you bring a torch with for outside at night. A wood burning stove/fireplace turns the cottage into a snug and warm haven in winter – the fire wood is included free of charge. Wake-up to the sound of nature with no TV’s, radios or hairdryers to disturb the peace.
Activities include the hiking route to Ontongs Cave, a two night hiking trail. The first night can be spent at the Double Decker Bus Base Camp. The second night is spent in the cave. For more information please request out information brochure.
Other activities include fishing, Mountain Biking and non-motorised watersports on Volvlei Dam (canoeing, paddling, wind-surfing).

Pet Policy: All dogs, cats & caged birds welcome all year round. Please call beforehand about horses & other animals. Pets sleep inside – bring own pet beds, bedding & bowls. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture. Pets must be treated for fleas & ticks as very prevalent in the area. Easy access to walks & whole run of farm. Consideration must be given to resident dogs, cats, farm animals, wild ponies & wildlife. We expect our pets to treat our guests and their pets with respect and basic good manners and we expect the same behaviour in return. CHARGE for dogs: R25 per dog per day please call to discuss other animals. Doggie Damages Deposit Required: NONE however owners are responsible for any damage caused by pets.
