Surf, kite, fish or swim in protected waters right on your doorstep, plus dolphin and whale spotting and more. Categorised and graded as �comfortable with luxury�, and comprising three ground floor self-catering suites… two open plan suites each sleeping two persons on Thai opium beds as well as one family suite suitable for a couple with two small children or one additional adult.
Fully furnished in Thai/Balinese furniture, with high fanned ceilings, TV with DStv (bouquet package), free WiFi, basic portable braai facilities and safe parking on site. Situated on a superb surfing beach and nestled in an exotic Balinese garden setting, Mei-Pen-Lai exudes an air of tranquillity and translates as “doesn’t matter” or “chill out”.
Located right on the beach, via South Beach Road, on the unspoiled southern side of Umdloti, Mei-Pen-Lai is within 100m of village shops and restaurants. The area is ideally positioned for an array of entertainment and activity options that range from simply strolling with your dogs on the dog-friendly beach, basking on a shell encrusted, shark net protected beach to superb fishing, surfing and horseback riding; a few minutes drive to golf courses, casino, microlight flights and parachuting.
Umhlanga is less than an hour’s walk along the deserted beaches of the Hawaan forest and lagoon; a mere five minutes drive to Umhlanga and Gateway World of Shopping and Entertainment; two minutes drive to Sibaya Casino. Durban is a twenty-minute drive away and less than two hours drive to world famous Game Reserves, Lake St Lucia and the majestic Drakensberg mountains. Boat rides are available at Umhlanga for dolphin and whale spotting, diving and deep sea fishing.
PET POLICY: Small to medium, well-behaved, socialised dogs welcome all year round. Dogs sleep inside; bring own dog beds, bedding and bowls. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must be free of ticks and fleas. Enclosed communal garden. Please Note: there are 3 individual adjacent suites and the enclosed garden is thus to be shared between guests. Generally, only one set of pets should be accommodated at one time, and no more than two small breed socialised dogs per guest at any one time (if there is more than one suite with a pet, there is a small collapsible fence that can be attached to the separate patios of adjacent suites/pets.) No persistent barking allowed. CHARGE for Pets: R160 per pet per stay. Doggie Damages Deposit required: NONE.
